About The Project
Welcome to the project site for the restoration of the Royal Floridian resort, one of the area’s finest properties. The gorgeous oceanfront location not only brings a great view, but also subjects the building to the elements. Over time, wind, salt and sun affects the structure, so the owner Spinnaker Resorts has contracted with concrete experts ConTech Restoration to oversee all elements of a comprehensive restoration, which will enhance the beauty and durability of this fine resort.
“In a very fast paced project over nine months we will replace balconies, windows, doors and railings, as well as paint the exterior of the Royal Floridian”, says Alan Haughey, Vice President of ConTech Restoration. “What makes this project unique is the close collaboration between owner, contractor, design team, and construction team to take risk, animosity, and expense out of the project. It becomes a team effort where everyone can work smarter and more efficiently to achieve shared goals.”Vendor partners include RSC Equipment Rental for construction equipment, Cemex for concrete, and BASF for a number of products including sealants and coatings. The collaborative approach allows each partner to contribute the highest value add both in services and products.
Many contractors and project managers are very focused on price; in fact a collaborative approach drives the total cost down. When everyone works together in a spirit of trust and cooperation, construction projects can be completed on time and on budget, and be a source of accomplishment and satisfaction for every stakeholder. The collaborative approach to concrete restoration will be shared on video. Award winning documentary filmmaker George Billard is giving viewers a close and personal look at one of the largest construction projects in the Daytona area. The project will be tracked with short videos on this site, as well as a longer feature.“Our goal is to tell an entertaining story as we track progress of the construction.” says Mr. Billard, “What’s most interesting about this particular job is the level of collaboration that’s required between many partners and suppliers – that will be a key part of the story we tell.”
